No third-party services when you visit

Visiting this page loads no content from external servers. There are no embedded fonts, no icon libraries and no CDN. As a result, your IP address reaches nobody but our own server.

That is a deliberate choice: an earlier version of this site loaded fonts from Google and libraries from Cloudflare. We replaced them rather than asking you to consent to them.

No tracking, one single cookie

This site uses no analytics services and does not track your behaviour. Exactly one cookie is set, and only if you change the language using the selector above.

Name and content: lang, holding the language code — en or de, for instance. Nothing else, and in particular no identifier by which you could be recognised.
Purpose: to keep your choice of language for your next visit.
Legal basis: § 25 (2) no. 2 DDG. No consent is required, because storage is strictly necessary in order to provide the service you have expressly requested — this page in this language. That is also why there is no consent banner.
Retention: one year. You may delete it in your browser at any time; the site will then again choose the language your browser reports.

If you do not touch the selector, nothing is stored. The language then follows from the Accept-Language header that your browser sends with every request anyway — no additional information goes to us for this.

Server logs

When a page is requested, the web server automatically records the data your browser transmits: IP address, date and time, the address requested, the volume of data transferred, the referring page and the browser identification.

Purpose: operation and security of the server.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in trouble-free operation.
Retention: 7 days, then automatic deletion.

Notification when the beta starts

If you enter your email address in the form on the home page, we store it on our server.

Purpose: solely to notify you once, when the beta begins.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR — your consent, given by ticking the box.
Disclosure: none.
Retention: until you withdraw consent, at the latest until the notification about the launch.
Withdrawal: at any time, without formality, to info@autoboot.net. The lawfulness of processing carried out until then remains unaffected.

Contact form

What you enter in the form on the contact page — name, email address and your message — is sent to us by email.

Purpose: solely to answer your enquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR for contract-related enquiries, otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in replying.
Storage: no database is created. The information exists only in the email and is deleted as soon as the enquiry has been dealt with and no retention obligation stands in the way.
Disclosure: none.

Status page relay.autoboot.net

Anyone using AutoBoot can follow the progress of an installation on their phone. For this, the device briefly deposits information under a random identifier.

What: progress as a percentage, the current phase and the last four log lines.
What not: before sending, the device strips MAC addresses, UUIDs, IP addresses and serial numbers. No file names, no browser history and no credentials are transmitted.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR — providing the function you requested.
Retention: four hours, then automatic deletion.
Optional: the function is a convenience. Without it the installation continues unchanged, and the progress is shown on the device’s own screen.

Hosting

This site runs on a virtual server that we administer ourselves. The underlying infrastructure is provided by
STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15), to rectification (Art. 16), to erasure (Art. 17), to restriction of processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21 GDPR). Please contact the address given above.

You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — the competent one being that of your place of residence or that of the controller.
